Overview
Hexarelin is one of the most potent synthetic GHRPs identified to date, notable in the research literature for both its powerful GH-releasing activity and for cardioprotective signaling observed in preclinical cardiac tissue models.
Mechanism & Research Findings
Hexarelin is a strong GHS-R1a agonist that produces a marked GH pulse in animal models, generally regarded as more potent on a molar basis than GHRP-2 or GHRP-6. A distinguishing feature in the literature is Hexarelin’s interaction with a separate, non-GHS-R1a cardiac binding site (CD36), which researchers have linked to direct cardioprotective and anti-fibrotic signaling independent of GH release — making it a compound of interest in cardiac and mitochondrial research models as well as endocrine studies. Its GH-releasing potency also comes with more pronounced desensitization on repeated dosing in animal studies compared to milder secretagogues.
Research Applications
- High-potency GHS-R1a activation studies
- Cardiac tissue / CD36 receptor signaling research
- Comparative GH secretagogue desensitization studies
