Overview
AOD9604 is a modified fragment of the C-terminal region of human growth hormone, engineered to isolate the lipolytic (fat-metabolizing) region of the GH molecule from its growth-promoting regions.
Mechanism & Research Findings
Native GH’s lipolytic activity is localized to its 176-191 fragment. AOD9604 stabilizes this fragment with an additional tyrosine residue, allowing researchers to study fat-metabolism signaling in isolation from the IGF-1-mediated growth effects of full-length GH. In preclinical models, it has been studied for its effects on lipolysis and inhibition of lipogenesis without meaningfully affecting blood glucose or IGF-1 levels, making it a useful tool compound for dissecting GH’s pleiotropic effects.
Research Applications
- Isolated lipolytic-domain GH research
- Adipocyte metabolism and lipogenesis-inhibition studies
- Comparative studies vs. full-length GH signaling
