Overview

TB-500 is a synthetic peptide corresponding to the active region of Thymosin Beta-4, a naturally occurring protein present in nearly all human and animal cells that plays a central role in actin regulation and cell migration.

Mechanism & Research Findings

TB-500’s primary studied mechanism is its interaction with G-actin, the building block of the cytoskeleton, which regulates cell motility. Because migration of repair cells (fibroblasts, endothelial cells, keratinocytes) into a wound site is actin-dependent, TB-500 is studied for its role in coordinating this cellular migration and has been reported in preclinical models to reduce inflammation and support angiogenesis alongside its motility effects. It is very frequently studied in combination with BPC-157, since the two are believed to act through complementary (angiogenic + cytoskeletal) repair pathways.
