Overview
PEG-MGF is a pegylated version of MGF, in which polyethylene glycol conjugation extends the peptide’s research half-life substantially compared to unmodified MGF, which degrades very rapidly in solution.
Mechanism & Research Findings
PEGylation increases the peptide’s hydrodynamic size, reducing renal clearance and proteolytic degradation, allowing researchers to maintain measurable MGF-pathway activation over a longer experimental window than is feasible with the native, extremely short-lived splice variant. This makes PEG-MGF a more practical tool compound for extended-duration satellite-cell activation studies where sustained (rather than pulsed) local IGF-1Ec signaling is the variable of interest.
Research Applications
- Extended-duration satellite-cell activation research
- PEGylation / half-life-extension pharmacokinetic studies
- Comparative research vs. native (non-pegylated) MGF
For laboratory research use only. Not for human consumption, diagnostic, or therapeutic use.
