Overview
Kisspeptin-10 is the minimal active fragment of the kisspeptin peptide family, a master upstream regulator of the reproductive endocrine axis, and is a central reference compound in modern GnRH-pathway research.
Mechanism & Research Findings
Kisspeptin-10 activates the GPR54 (KISS1R) receptor on GnRH neurons in the hypothalamus, triggering pulsatile GnRH release that in turn drives pituitary LH/FSH secretion. Because kisspeptin signaling sits upstream of the entire HPG axis, it is one of the most studied compounds in puberty-onset, fertility, and reproductive-neuroendocrinology research, and is frequently used as a research tool to trigger the endogenous GnRH pulse generator in animal models.
Research Applications
- GPR54/KISS1R receptor pharmacology
- GnRH pulse-generator and HPG-axis research
- Puberty-onset and fertility-pathway modeling
